I spoke today with Dean Kuhlmann, the vice president of business development for Lateral Data, a Xerox Company, which makes the Viewpoint e-discovery software platform. We discussed his expectations for 2013, how his team is addressing those expectations, and the top trends that he expects to take hold in the new year.
He anticipates the rise of portability and mobility in connection with the development of on-site programming for overseas document review. He also highlighted that technology assisted review is no longer a novel trend. Rather, it is a key technique that teams will use on a more consistent basis.
He predicted that in the near future, it will not be the technology on which people focus; it will be the talent.

We discussed the genesis of the Girl’s Guide, advice on law school exam preparation, and ways that law students can balance academics with health and wellness, among other topics.
