For this Legalweek mixtape from Wednesday, March 22, 2023, I had the privilege of speaking with Ian Campbell, CMO of iCONECT, Jessica Robinson, VP of Operations at Casepoint, James Lasson, VP of Marketing at Casepoint, Jamie Berry, President of Evolver, Tim Pullan, CEO of ThoughtRiver, Raymond Blijd, Founder of Legalcomplex, and Matt Patel, COO of Malbek.
I spoke with Jeroen Plink, the COO of the LegalTech Hub, and Jeroen Ketting, the founder and CEO of the Lighthouse Group, a provider of management and trade support to Western companies doing business in Russia and Ukraine. We discussed how a legal tech background can empower humanitarian work worldwide, best practices for adapting business knowledge and logistics expertise to support the community, and how the legal tech community can support the Lifeline Ukraine initiative.
I spoke with Chris Cartrett and Raphael Shure, the CEO and COO, respectively, for Aderant, a developer of practice management software for legal professionals. We discussed why legal teams are increasingly focused on leveraging technology for practice management, how the pandemic impacted the way law firm leaders manage their teams and operations, Aderant’s acquisition of American LegalNet, and the most promising areas of legal in 2022.
I spoke with David Perla, the co-chief operating officer at Burford Capital, a leading provider of capital to the legal market. We discussed Burford’s 2021 Legal Asset Report, why it is important to talk to chief financial officers about legal assets, how CFO’s view affirmative recovery and legal cost management programs, and how corporate finance and corporate legal can collaborate more effectively.
I spoke with Felicity Conrad, the co-founder & CEO of Paladin, a software platform that empowers pro bono activities in law firms, Christian Lang, the head of strategy at Reynen Court, a secure platform for law firms and corporate legal departments to adopt and manage their software, and Anna McGrane, the co-founder and COO of PacerPro, a system that simplifies access to Pacer, the online federal court filings system. We discussed New York University Law School’s series on legal technology, including its upcoming program on October 15, 2019.
I spoke with Chris Chalstrom, Brandon Ward, and Ben Legatt, the founders of Sadie Blue Software, the maker of Agility Blue, a project management tool for the legal profession.We discussed the genesis of Sadie Blue Software, the problems that Agility Blue solves, why project management has become so important in efficiently managing legal projects, and how the development of tools like Agility Blue reflect where the legal market is headed in 2017, among other topics.
